Handies Peak
The hardest part of this 14er is probably getting to the trailhead. You’re rewarded with 360 degree views of the San Juan Mountains which makes this one of my favorite 14ers.
Uncompahgre Peak
Between the 4WD road and the recent snow storm, we were worried whether we would actually summit. Uncomphagre ended up being one of our favorite 14ers so far.
Decalibron
“Decalibron” is a loop that takes you across mounts Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross. Its not too far from Denver and is a great way to check off a few 14ers.
Pikes Peak
America’s Mountain! The “Crags” route is a great alternative to the Barr Trail if you want to summit Pikes Peak without having to hike 26 miles round trip. Your efforts are rewarded with great scenery plus donuts at the summit house!
Mt. Zirkel Wilderness
The Zirkel Circle (accessed from the Slavonia Trailhead) is a great backpacking loop or can also be done as a day hike. We also tell you how you can summit Mt. Zirkel!
